Mikroclima
Looking for a versatile crop cover that not only protects crops from weather and pests, but also creates an ideal growing environment while extending growing seasons? Our signature product – Mikroclima – has been imported by Polynet for more than 28 years, and is one of our best-selling crop covers.
Perfect for a wide range of uses for commercial growers, nurseries, flower growers and home gardeners, Mikroclima is the original knitted polyethylene frost cloth – developed to protect crops and plants from frost, heavy rain, hail, cool winds, flying insects and birds.
Manufactured in Italy, Mikroclima is knitted from thin strips of strong, but incredibly light, transparent and UV-stabilised polyethylene thread.

MIKROCLIMA FOR COMMERCIAL GROWERS
Mikroclima is lightweight and effective, enabling many Commercial Growers use Mikroclima directly on crops such as winter lettuce, silverbeet and radish – protecting crops from cold weather and birds, while also shortening the time until harvest and extending the growing season. For more delicate or valuable crops such as peppers, melons and ground tomatoes, Mikroclima can be used in conjunction with frames or cloches.
MIKROCLIMA FOR NURSERIES
Nurseries use Mikroclima as a throw-over protective cover, or fixed over frames or cloche hoops to provide effective protection from cold winds, heavy rain, hail and frosts. Plants nurtured in a protected or heated environment may be placed under Mikroclima to ‘harden up’ in a semi-protected environment before sale.
MIKROCLIMA FOR FLOWER GROWERS
Flower Growers use Mikroclima for protection against cold and frost – either over structures or hoops, or as a thermal blanket installed inside a glass or plastic house to defuse light, slow down heat loss and reduce condensation. Peonies flourish under Mikroclima, which provides protection from cold winds and light frosts. The photos below highlight the difference in growth between covered and non-covered plants.
MIKROCLIMA FOR HOME GARDENERSMikroclima also suits the needs of Home Gardeners, offering protection from cold, frost and pests. It can be draped over citrus and as a cloche cover for increased yield and protection. Fantastic growing condition can be achieved using cloches set up in garden plot or with raised beds – promoting growth of flowers and home-grown fruits and vegetables.
